In the Rough Rider mens’ volleyball teams final regular season game against the St. Edward Eagles, the Riders won 3-1. After being down 0-1 after the first set the Riders came back to win the next three sets in a row. In the fourth and final set the Riders dug themselves into a 19-14 hole, but Senior Tyler McKown served the next four points with the help of his teammates. When the Riders won the sideout, they were down 20-19. Sophomore Luke Larkin came in to serve for a struggling Nathan Montanari. Luke aced his first two serves and got a little help from his front row offense to get the next two points for Kent. With the score at 23-20 Kent. Kent again won the sideout point and Sam Smith finished off the Eagles with a stuff block at the net to win the set 25-22 and the game!
Travis Verh had 25 assists, 5 kills and 3 aces. Tyler McKown played huge at the net by recording 10 blocks against the Eagles attacks. He also had 12 kills of his own. Anthony Sawyer also added 9 kills and 2 aces. The win gives the Varsity team a regular season record of 13-6. Kents’ JV team lost 0-2 and finished their regular season at 4-13.
Our Riders’ our back in action on Monday, May 21st to play Perry from Lake Co. in the District Finals. The game will be played at 5:00pm at Walsh High School. We would love to fill the stands with Red and Black. So please come support this amazing Rider Mens’ Volleyball team in their quest to make a run in tournaments!!
