Dear Kent City Schools Families and Staff Members,

As the situation regarding COVID-19 continues to evolve, we will be heeding the advice of Governor Mike DeWine to limit large gatherings, use social (physical) distancing of people in our buildings.  As we attempt to be part of the solution to slow the spread of the virus with a goal of flattening the curve, we want to limit the number of outside people interacting with our students and staff members.

Student will not report to school on March 16, 2020. School will be closed through Friday April 3rd as mandated by Governor DeWine. All Roosevelt and Stanton athletic practices, weight room workouts, scrimmages and games have been cancelled effective immediately.

March 16th is considered an In-service day for all staff and they should report as scheduled.

We apologize for any inconvenience this short notice has created for our families. We will provide details tomorrow afternoon as to how Learning packets and Birdie Bags will be available for parent pick-up on Tuesday, March 17th.  Our clinics will be open at each school starting at 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. for parents to pick-up medications on Monday March 16th along with breakfast sacks being available for pick-up between 10:00 and 1:00 in cafeterias.

Out of an abundance of caution, we feel this is the best decision to do everything we can to keep our students and everyone in our community healthy.

As the situation changes, we will continue to provide ongoing communication.

Sincerely,

George J. Joseph
Superintendent
Kent City Schools
