Kent Roosevelt High School
Highland High School
In a great showing, Kayla Fischer scored 24 points, but this was not enough as Roosevelt fell to Highland 51-48. On a two-pointer from Emily Lyon, Highland (Medina, OH) clinched their win in the fourth quarter.
The 21-14 lead at the half on the strength of a 15-4 run by Roosevelt Rough Riders Varsity wasn’t enough for to overcome Highland’s 37 points in the final two quarters of the game. Though Roosevelt finished strong, adding 15 points in the final quarter, it wasn’t enough to turn things around. With a total of 23 fouls, Roosevelt was on the attack over the course of the game.
Fischer led the charge for Roosevelt’s offense, scoring 24 points, with eight points during the third period. She also contributed five rebounds and four steals.
Lexie Horner also came through with 5 points, six rebounds and two blocks. Shannon Larkin notched two three-pointers and scored six points total. Samara Wright made it into double digits, scoring 11 points for Roosevelt (5-for-10). Wright was a big defensive contributor as well, racking up 15 rebounds and five blocks.
Roosevelt finished the game with 45 rebounds (18 offensive / 27 defensive), 10 blocks and five steals.
