Game Recap

Kent Roosevelt defeated Wooster High School in 5 extremely hard fought games. (27-25, 19-25, 25-14, 25-23, 15-11). The team came into this match without starting outside hitter, Cecelia Sheehan, and proved that the team chemistry of this year’s volleyball squad is strong enough to overcome adversity. In game 1, sophomore middle hitter Miranda Bowser had 3 of her 11 kills, and senior Renee Slattery stepped up on defense with 3 of her 9 total digs. In game 2, Kent struggled to find a rhythm, but game 3 was probably the most dominant performance of the day. Junior DS Kelsey Titko served 3 aces during a span of 4 serves, throwing Wooster completely out of sync, allowing the rough riders to cruise to a 25-14 win. Game 4 was another tough loss at 23-25, but game 5 went back to the rough riders. Senior captain Emme Lenzo had two amazing kills to finally put the Wooster volleyball team away. Sydney Barnwell was inspirational playing through a painful rolled ankle, racking up 8 kills and 5 blocks. Caroline Hanna ran the balanced offense with 34 assists and 3 of her own kills. Mary Marsh led the team with 27 perfect passes out of serve receive along with 20 digs, and Junior Hanna Holman recovering from a recent back injury was a strong presence replacing Sheehan in starting lineup. Overall, this was the most balanced attack from Kent Roosevelt volleyball in recent memory.
